A type of compound that contains of metal atoms joined to non-metal atoms ,e.g. sodium chloride.
Definition of Alkali
A bas soluble in water.

A solution formed when a base dissolves in water, e.g. sodium hydroxide.

A compound that can react with an acid and neutralize it.
Definition of Filtration
Separating technique used to remove an insoluble solid from a solution.

The formation of crystals from their solutions.
How is salt made? On what does the type of the salt depend?
A salt is formed when metals and metal carbonates react with acids. The type of the salt made in the reaction depends on the acid used.
How do we name a salt? Share an example.
The first part of the salt’s name is always the name of a metal element. The metal comes from the metal or base used. The second part of the salt’s name is from the acid used.

What happens when a metal reacts with an acid? Write the general equation.
When a metal reacts with an acid, salt is formed. E.g.
Metal + Acid————> Salt + Hydrogen
What happens when zinc reacts with sulfuric acid? Write the word as well as the symbol equations.
Zinc reacts with sulfuric acid to form the salt zinc sulfate. Hydrogen is also made. The word equation is :
Zinc + Sulfuric acid —-> Zinc Sulfate + Hydrogen
