what do you need to know to stir fry food safely?
- use a wok - it has a large surface area so food cooks quickly
- only use a little bit of oil - so it doesn’t spit
- use the handle so you don’t burn your hands
what foods would you cook by stir frying?
noodles
vegetables like onion, peppers, finely cut carrots, bean sprouts
meats like chicken, beef, prawns
is stir frying a healthy or unhealthy method of cooking?
healthy because you don’t use much oil in the wok and the vegetables will keep lots of their nutrients
what do you need to know to microwave food safely?
not to use metal or tin foil because it causes the microwave to spark.
what foods would you cook by microwave?
premade e.g. rice, chicken, soup
is microwaving a healthy or unhealthy method of cooking?
healthy because you don’t add any fat or anything to it but it can also be unhealthy.
what do you need to know to roast food safely?
use oven gloves- so you can remove and insert the dish with the meat on.
make sure you can lift the weight of certain foods.
what foods would you cook by roasting?
normally large cuts of meat like beef, lamb or chicken and you can also roast vegetables e.g. potatoes and parsnips.
is roasting a healthy or unhealthy method of cooking?
it can be healthy if you don’t add any fat to the dish but it can also be unhealthy if you let the food product lay in its own fat.
