Methods Flashcards
Experimental methods can be:
Lab experiments- where variables are manipulated in a highly controlled setting.
Field experiments- where variables are manipulated in a less controlled, real world setting,
Quasi experiments- where the independent variable is naturally occurring.
Non experimental methods can be:
Observations- where you watch people and record their behaviour and information about them.
Self reports- where people tell you about themselves through an interview or by filling in a questionnaire.
Case studies- where one person or a small group of people are studied very intensely and lots of information is gathered about them.
Correlations- where two pieces of information are collected then analysed to see if there is any relationship between them.
