Q

Explain a wet bulb.

A

-Has a wick over the bulb leading to a reservoir of pure water
-The water migrates up the wick and keeps it damp
-Water evaporates from the wick, drawing latent heat from it and reducing the temperature shown

16
Q

What happens when the air is saturated? (3)

A
  • No evaporation occurs
  • No latent heat is drawn
  • Depression of the wet bulb is zero
17
Q

When must the wick of the wet bulb be renewed?

A

Weekly, or after rough weather

18
Q

When must the reservoir of the wet bulb be replaced, and what with?

A

Weekly, or more frequently in conditions of low humidity, with pure water
