Organic silicones
Silicates
- Lead containing compounds
What are VOCs and what is the highest ionization potential (IP) that the meter can detect?
Volatile organic compounds Dash modern industry industrial chemicals such as fuels, coatings, solvents, refrigerant etc. they have a tendency to evaporate easily under normal conditions making them volatile and they have a high flashpoint.
10.6 eV
How do you do a bump test on a multi RAE?
- Once you’re at your home screen press and hold the Y+ & N- keys at the same time the bump screen will appear. Apply the 4 gas and press start.
- Now bump the PID sensor. Apply gas press start
Multi RAE
What do we want to do prior to metering a hazardous area?
Block pump inlet to make certain pump is working. Press reset
Bump test. If it fails bump test then calibrate.
Confirm measurement gas (conversion factor) is set appropriately
How does the multi RAE read VOC’s?
There are three different PID sensors That can be used. One reads ppm, and reads 0.1 to 5000 ppm, and another that reads 1 to 1000 ppm, third one that reads parts per billion 10 PPB - 2000 ppm
What gas do we calibrate LEL, 02, CO, and H2S on? What gas do we calibrate VOC’s on?
Multigas- methane, oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide
Isobutylene
How do we calibrate Multie RAE?
- Must be in fresh air to perform
- home screen press “O” button and “N-“ at same time.
- Next screen will have six icons
- Select upper left icon that looks like calibration bottle
- Scroll down to “multi sensor span” & select
- Attach 4 gas and select start
- Once done you will see pass or fail the meter will go into PID calibration
- Apply Isobutylene press start
- Once complete select back button to go to the home page
When using multi RAE to meter for combustible liquids with flashpoint above 100°F what area of the meter should be watched?
