What is turning?
It is a material removal process used to create rotational parts by cutting unwanted material. The metal turning process requires a turning machine or lathe, a workpiece, a fixture, and a cutting tool. The workpiece is a piece of pre-shaped metal secured to the fixture.
What is wastage?
Wastage is the process of cutting away material with tools and equipment.
What is milling?
Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material.
What is milling used for?
Used to cut slots and grooves, machine edges and to smooth large surface areas.
What is shearing?
A cutting and slicing action
What is welding?
It is a Permanent way to join metals by using the same metal that is used to product a joint.
Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials
What is brazing?
Brazing is a metal-joining process whereby a filler metal is heated above melting point and distributed between two or more close-fitting parts.
What is soldering?
is a joining process used to join different types of metals together by melting solder
What is bending?
Simplest form of forming metal. You can bend with simply a vice and hitting it or in jigs/machines.
What are the benefits of using standard components when manufacturing products?
It speeds up the manufacturing process
