Metal Carbonate Plus Acid Flashcards
1
Q
What happens when metal carbonate reacts with acid
A
The metal replaces the hydrogen to make a salt. The hydrogen and carbonate make water as well as the carbonate making carbon dioxide.
2
Q
Acid + metal carbonate ->
A
A salt + water + carbon dioxide
3
Q
What is the test for carbon dioxide?
A
A gas would bubble through the limewater and turn limewater milky, this gas is therefore carbon dioxide.
