Hammurabi’s Code: What was included in it?
Hammurabi’s code included 282 laws that came with diverse punishments based on your social class. For instance, injuring a wealthy man brings a greater punishment than injuring a poor man.

The code included everything from trade, loans, theft, marriage, injury, or murder.

It is the earliest collection of laws that have been discovered.

It is important because the laws were WRITTEN down so that the people knew what the laws and consequences were.

The plateaus guided the water source.
How did the Tigris and Euphrates rivers influence the success of Mesopotamia?
The rivers made the land fertile.If the land is fertile, crops could be grown easily. If crops could be grown easily that would lead to a surplus of food, and if there is a surplus of food people would not need to focus on farming and could focus on other tasks that would help their society grow.
How did ditches and canals influence the success of Mesopotamia?
They created a system of ditches and canals to control flooding
How did having access to the Mediterranean Sea influence the success of Mesopotamia?
By having access to the Mediterranean Sea the people in Mesopotamia could trade with other civilizations. The trade helped the economy. It also allowed them to spread their culture and learn about new ones.
Describe the important details of ziggurats
Ziggurats were religious temples in Sumeria. They were usually the tallest structures in the city. They had steps and staircases. Demonstrated the beliefs of the people in Mesopotamia. A shrine was placed at the top as Sumerians believed that gods and goddesses lived up high. The ziggurats were an architectural achievement of Sumeria.
Describe the importance of the development of cuneiform
Cuneiform was the WORLD’S FIRST WRITING SYSTEM.
It was an achievement of the Sumerians.
They used a stylus and wedge-shapes to imprint on clay.
It was a writing system based on pictograms. A scribe would complete the tablets.
They were usually hired to make a record of some type of business transaction, official record, payments, and taxes.
Being a scribe was a well respected job in Sumeria.
