Q

vascular tissue

A

Xylem + Phloem; used for transport of water, minerals, nutrients and provide support

MERISTEMATIC TISSUE:

A

derived of aggregates of small cells with the same function as stem cells; undifferentiated and used for growth

6
Q

apical meristems

A

Differentiated based on position in plant (primary meristem)

Occurs at roots and stems

Shoot Apex: apical meristem and surrounding tissue which uses mitosis and cell division

Stem growth increases with light and carbon dioxide exposure

7
Q

lateral meristems

A

Growth in plant thickness (secondary growth)

Occurs at cambium, often in trees + shrubs (woody plants)

Vascular Cambium: produces secondary vascular tissue

Cork Cambium: produces cork cells of outer bark ( in trees)
