sad, gloomy, dejected
Anxiety

Flat affect
lack of emotional response
Euphoria

annoyed or easily provoked

worried about known external danger
Global Aphasia
most common; spontaneous speech, prognosis is poor
Broca’s Aphasia
expressive aphasia, patient can understand but they have difficulty expressing themselves
Wernicke’s Aphasia
receptive aphasia, patient can hear sounds but does not understand. speech is clear
Mini mental status exam
ABCT - Appearance, Behavior, Cognition, Thought process
New Learning - 4 unrelated word test easy to check for memory issues
Full psych exam needed
with changes in affect or behavior, with memory loss or inappropriate social interactions, with brain lesions, with aphasia, with symptoms of changes in mental status that are acute on onset
DENVER II
screening test to assess mental status and development in children
LOC
Level of consciousness; Alert - awake, easily arousable; lethargic - not fully awak, drifts off to sleep, only aroused by name; obtunded - sleeps most of the time, hard to arouse; Stupor - unconscious, responds with vigorous shake or pain; Coma - completely unconcious
