outward expression of the client’s emotional state.

the way the client functions intellectually or how the client is thinking.
Thought Content
the type of ideas expressed by the client or what the client is thinking
Cognitive Evaluation
the ability to think and know
Judgment
the ability to reach a logical decision about a situation and to choose a course of action after examining various possibilities
Insight
person’s awareness of his or her own thoughts and feelings and ability to compare them with the thoughts and feelings of others
the ability to understand the true nature of one’s situation and accept personal responsibility for that situation
Mental Status Examination
the standard procedure used to evaluate the client’s mental and emotional functioning at the time the client is seen by the mental health professional
