Concussion
-And alteration in mental status resulting from a blow to the head, face, or neck
Patho:
Subjective: Headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, ringing in ears, amnesia, restless or irritable, may not have lost consciousness
Objective: Days expression, slow motor in verbal responses, slurred speech, emotional lability, hypersensitivity to stimuli, deficit deficit and coordination, cognition, memory, attention. Coma. Symptoms may disappear within 15 minutes or process for several weeks
Delirium
-Impaired cognition, consciousness, mood and behavior dysfunction of acute onset
Patho: Risk factors in older adults include a serious illness or injury, impaired vision or hearing, or age related changes in her medications are metabolized
Subjective: Suspicious, fearful, mood swings
Objective: altered consciousness, incoherent, logical flow of ideas, delusions, hallucinations, delusions, poor memory
Depression
-Mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with every day life for an extended period
Patho:
Subjective: Feel sad, hopeless, worthless. No interest or pleasure in what was previously of interest or pleasurable. Insomnia or excessive sleeping. Increase or decrease in appetite.
Objective: Poor concentration, slowed that process in speech, agitation or restlessness
Mania
-Persistently elevated expensive you forgot your audible and agitated mood lasting longer than a week. One phase of the bipolar psychiatric disorder
Patho: Abnormal levels of neurotransmitters, norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine, glutamate, and GABA
Subjective: Hyperactivity. Overconfidence, exaggerated viewable on abilities. Impaired occupational, social, and interpersonal functioning. Excess of involvement in pleasurable activities with high potential for serious or painful consequences. Decreased need for sleep. Racing thoughts. Lack of impulse control
Objective: Grandioso Persico Tori delusions, euphoria. Increase talkativeness or pressure to keep talking, may involve excessive raining or puns
PHQ – 9
A patient health questionnaire that is the most common screening tool to identify depression.
CAGE
A commonly used five question tool used to screen for drug and alcohol use is a quick questionnaire to help determine if alcohol assessment is needed. If a person answered yes to two or more questions, a complete assessment is advised.
The Columbia – suicide severity rating scale C – SSRS
A questionnaire use for suicide assessment. Mental health training is not required to administer the questionnaire.
GAD – 7
Generalized anxiety disorder. He seven question screening tool that identifies whether a complete assessment for anxiety is indicated.
