Definition for Mental Disorder
ABNORMAL state of mind (whether continuous or intermittent nature) characterised by DELUSION or by DISORDER of mood, PERCEPTION, VOLITION or COGNITION of such a degree
RISKS involving a person with a mental health disorder
- Poses SERIOUS DANGER to the health and safety of that person or others
- seriously DIMINISHES the capacity of that person to TAKE CARE IF HIM/HERSELF
Specialist patients
These are patients who are DETAINED by way of a court order if they are FOUND to be CRIMINALLY INSANE or UNFIT TO PLEA. The category also includes people on REMAND waiting for a PSYCHIATRIC REPORT
Restricted patients
RESTRICTED patients who are SUBJECT to COMPULSORY TREATMENT ORDER and CONSIDERED to present a DANGER to the public

Police powers in public places
- APPREHEND
- Wandering at large in a PUBLIC PLACE

Compulsory Treatment Order Patient
IN-PATIENT=Stays at the psychiatric unit for treatment
OUT-PATIENT=Lives at home and attends psychiatric unit for treatment
Compulsory treatment patients
Absent without leave/fails to comply with order maybe apprehended and RETURNED TO HOSPITAL WITHIN 3MNTHS OF GOING MISSING
- A new application for assessment MUST be made if absent more than 3mnths
