Would you benefit from treatment
Never had a hospital assessment before
Long period of time since your last formal assessment
Responsible clinician (he can discharge you)
Detainment in hospital for treatment
Well known to MH services (i.e. assessed already)
Escalation from an S2–>S3
28 days
6 months
Emergency detainment for assessment only
72 hours
2 doctors
one with specialist training
1 doctor
should be seen ASAP by another for transfer to S3/discharge
Prevention of patient leaving hospital as voluntary/informal patient
ONLY IF S2,3,4 NOT POSSIBLE
