Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI)

– Increase the extracellular level of serotonin by inhibiting its reuptake into the pre‐synaptic cell, increasing the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft available to bind to the postsynaptic receptor

-only small amounts pass into breast milk
