Define mental health and wellbeing
Mental health and wellbeing refer to the current state of wellbeing relating to the mind or brain and to the ability to think and process information. It is about wellness rather than illness.
List examples of factors affecting mental health and wellbeing
Physical, mental and social health. Stress, unhealthy eating and sleeping etc… (idk you can js bs this one i think)
Use data to describe the mental health status of the Australian youth population
Nearly 40% of young Australians aged 16-24 (more than 1 million people) experienced a mental health disorder in the previous year, up from 26 percent in 2007.
In 2022, we surveyed over 18,800 young people to learn about the issues that concern them most. Within the last year, the report revealed that financial concerns and housing instability affected many young people. 10.4% worried about having a safe place to stay and one in 20 (5.9%) young people or their families unable to afford bills or car expenses.- 2022 Youth Survey

Some common thinking errors: all or nothing (seeing everything as black or white), over-generalization (think about never-ending pattern of failure), mind-reading, fortune-telling (predicting worst will happen), magnification (1 mistake = big disaster), minimization (playing down good things), catastrophizing (extreme judgments thinking worst will occur) ,
Suggest examples of mental health coping strategies
Is self talk and helpful thinking. Helpful thinking is telling yourself the only thing you the only thing you can control is yourself, changing the way you think and feel about a situation.
Explain the benefits of mindfulness and gratitude as positive psychology strategies
research shows that benefits of mindfulness include greater activation in the areas of their brains associated with feeling good, reduced stress and worrying as well as stronger immune systems. benefits of gratitude include increased happiness, stronger connection with family and friends, lower negative emotions and greater resilience/focus/energy.
Explain the benefits of social connections and character strengths as positive psychology strategies
As humans we need connections, when people have meaningful or fun interactions, their sense of wellbeing and energy both increased. American study shows happiest 10% of the study all had strong social connections.
Explain the benefits of meaning and purpose as a positive psychology strategy
Benefits of meaning and purpose include connection with others, increased motivation, increased happiness and thinking of others.
Explain how to check in with a friend from a mental health perspective, and practice having a challenging conversation
