Bacterial meningitis potentially fatal with an hours of onset, considered medical emergency
Viral meningitis less fatal

A
Fever, headache, vomiting Complaints of stiff and painful neck, nuchal rigidity Pain in lumbar and posterior thigh Brudzinski’s sign Koenigs sign Sensitivity to light

A
Patient supine
Neck flexion facilitate involuntary flexion of hip and knees

Patient supine
Pain with hip flexion combined with knee extension
Hip flexed, leg cannot be fully extended even passively
