Pathophysiology for Ménière’s disease:
Typically affecting only one side and comes and go in sudden affects and eventually goes and leads to permanent death. Major fluids in the ears for Ménière’s disease.
3 Key signs and symptoms for Menieres Disease:
-Tinnitus (ringing in the ear)
-Unilateral hearing loss.
Vertigo (dizzy & balance loss). -NCLEX TIP Fall risk
Vomiting
Increase pressure
Clients with Ménière’s disease critical education (NCLEX TIP) highest priority
-Fall precautions because VERTIGO can lead to fall
Slow position changes are recommended to avoid vertigo and falling.
Sudden or abrupt position changes can lead to diziness.
- Sodium restriction (sodium swells) the body body with fluid we want to avoid fluid collection within the ear for Ménière’s disease.
-DONT LET NCLEX trick you here pottasium and other electrolyte dont need to be limited only sodium. Because it swells the body
-AVOID smoking, caffeine & alcohol which may aggravate the body.
