Mendelian Genetics - Dihybrid Cross Flashcards
1
Q
What is Mendel’s Second Law?
A
The law of Independent Assortment - two alleles for one gene segregate (assort) independently of the alleles for other genes during gamete formation (ie. seed colour and shape)
2
Q
What is a Dihybrid Cross?
A
A cross that involves 2 genes
Ex. TB tall plants with green pods (TTGG) and TB shorts plants with yellow pods (ttgg)
The result is always a 9:3:3:1 ratio

Q
What is the Chromosome Theory of Inheritance?
A
It states that genes are located on chromosomes and provide the basis for segregation & independent assortment of genes
