Q

What are the memory items
associated with the following
EGPWS alerts?
– ″PULL UP″
– ″TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP″
–″TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP″
– ″OBSTACLE AHEAD PULL UP″
– “TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP”
followed by “AVOID TERRAIN”

A

Announce: “PULL UP - TOGA” and simultaneously:
AP OFF
PITCH PULL UP (to full back stick)
THRUST LEVERS TOGA
SPEED BRAKE LEVER CHECK RETRACTED
BANK WINGS LEVEL or ADJUST
DO NOT CHANGE CONFIGURATION (SLATS/FLAPS, GEAR)
UNTIL CLEAR OF OBSTACLE.
When flight path is safe and the warning stops:
- Reduce Pitch and accelerate.
When speed is above VLS, and V/S is positive:
- Clean up aircraft, as required.

Q

What are the memory items
associated with “SINK RATE” or
“GLIDE SLOPE” EGPWS/TAWS
alert?

A
  • Above 1000 ft AAL IMC or above 500 ft AAL VMC: ADJUST FLIGHT PATH
  • Below 1000 ft AAL IMC or below 500 ft AAL VMC: CONSIDER GO-AROUND
(EY Stabilization Approach criteria stipulates that sink rate must
not exceed 1000 fpm (1200 fpm for CAT D aircraft) below 1000 ft RA, except for specific steep approach profiles that have been approved and briefed for).

Q

What are the memory items
associated with a Predictive Wind
shear alert WINDSHEAR AHEAD
RED warning during Take-off
phase?

A

TAKEOFF
o Before Takeoff – Delay or select the most favorable runway
o During Takeoff Run – Reject Take Off (inhibited between 100kt and 50ft)
o When Airborne – Apply TOGA/AP if engaged – Keep ON/follow SRS.
It’s permitted to change Slats/flaps configuration, provided the A/C does not enter windshear.

shear alert (WINDSHEAR
WINDSHEAR WINDSHEAR)
warning or a pilot detected
windshear encounter?

A
  1. TAKEOFF
o Before V1 – RTO if significant speed variations occur below V1 and if sufficient runway remains
o After V1 – Announce: “WINDSHEAR TOGA” and apply TOGA / ROTATE at VR / SRS follow
  2. AIRBORNE: Initial climb or landing
    - Announce: “WINDSHEAR TOGA” and:
    * TOGA / AP (keep if engaged) / SRS follow
    * DO NOT CHANGE CONFIG (FLAPS/SLATS/GEAR) UNTIL OUT OF
