AUTO FLIGHT LIMITATIONS QUESTIONS Flashcards
What is the minimum height for use of the autopilot on takeoff?
100 ft AGL and at least 5 sec after liftoff
What is the minimum height for use of the autopilot during a Non-Precision Approach using FINAL APP, NAV FPA, NAV V/S, TRK FPA, HDG V/S, LOC V/S and LOC
FPA?
250 ft AGL
What is the minimum height for use of the autopilot during a Circling Approach?
500 ft AGL
600 ft. AGL for A321
What is the minimum height for
engagement of the autopilot during a Go
Around?
100 ft
What is the minimum height for use of the autopilot during all phases other than take- off, instrument approach or go-around?
- A320:
500 ft AGL - A321:
900 ft AGL
What is the general limitation regarding the use of the autopilot and/or the FD during an approach in OPEN DES or DES mode?
The AP or FD in OPEN DES or DES mode can be used in the approach. However, its use is ONLY permitted if the FCU selected altitude is set to, or above, the higher of the two: MDA/MDH or 500 ft AGL
What is the general limitation/precaution
regarding obstacle clearance and constraints programmed into the FMGS?
Obstacle clearance and adherence to airspace constraints remains the flight crew’s responsibility.
What are the maximum wind conditions for a CAT 2 or CAT 3 ILS Automatic
Approach, Landing, & Rollout?
HW: 30 kt
TW: 10 kt
XW: 20 kt
A320-Sharklets
XW: 15 kt
(With Auto Rollout)
A321 CEO
HW: 30 kt (with Automatic Landing and Rollout)
TW: 10 kt
XW: 20 kt (with Automatic Landing and Rollout)
A321 NEO
HW: 15 kt
TW: 10 kt
XW: 10 kt
What is the minimum height for use of the autopilot during an ILS Approach with
CAT1 displayed on the FMA?
160 ft
What approach types cannot be flown
using FMGS Lateral and Vertical Navigation Mode (FINAL APP)?
ILS, LOC and LOC B/C
Is it authoriszed to fly a non-precision
approach in FLS mode?
No. FLS guidance mode is PROHIBITED for all non-precision approaches. FINAL APP shall always be selected in the MCDU PERF APPR PAGE when a non-precision approach is inserted in the F-PLN page.
Is it authoriszed to fly a RNAV approach
without GPS PRIMARY?
No. FCOM/PRO/SPO/PBN requires at least 1 GPS to start a RNAV approach (new PBN chart naming RNP APCH).
What are the pre-requisites for using NAV
mode in the terminal area?
NAV mode may be used in terminal area provided that:
- GPS PRIMARY is available, or
- The appropriate RNP is checked or entered on the MCDU, and HIGH accuracy is displayed, or
- FMS navigation is crosschecked with navaid raw data
What is the applicable Alert Height during a CAT 3 Fail Operational (Dual) ILS Automatic Approach?
100 ft
What are the permissible flaps/slats
configurations for a CAT 2/CAT 3 ILS with
One Engine Inoperative?
