Memory Items Flashcards
Windshear
Available
Take-off: Available 3 s after lift-off to 1300ft AGL
Approach: From 1300ft AGL to 50ft
If after V1: - PF announce: "windshear TOGA" - THR LEVERS ......... TOGA - REACHING VR ........ ROTATE - SRS ORDERS..... FOLLOW if FDs are not available use 17.5 up to full back stick
Initial climb or landing:
- PF announce: “windshear TOGA”
- THR LEVERS AT TOGA…… SET OR CONFIRM
- AP (if engaged)…….. KEEP ON
- SRS ORDERS ……. FOLLOW
if FDs are not available use 17.5 up to full backstick
Maintain current configuration until out of shear
Engine failure in cruise, drift down procedure.
In Cruise:
- Set MCT
- A/THR OFF
- Sets a HDG as appropriate and pulls
- Determine engine out recovery alt (PROG page)
- Notify ATC
When read for descent:
Set SPEED M0.78/300KT and PULL
Sets ALT and pulls for OPEN DES.
6. ECAM actions
When V/S becomes <500FPM
V/S: SET -500FRPM and PULL
A/THR: ON
Drift down - obstacle
- Set MCT
- A/THR OFF
- Sets a HDG as appropriate and pulls
- Determine engine out recovery alt (PROG page)
- Notify ATC
- SPD: SET Green Dot SPEED and pull
- ALT: selected Cruise FL - pull
When obstacles are cleared - return to standard strategy.
NOTE: thrust is fixed at MCT, elevator controls speed
Stall Recovery
PF announce: “Stall, I have control”
Immediate actions:
- pitch nose down
- wings level
When out of stall:
- increase thrust
- check speedbrakes are retracted
- recover flight path
- if in clean configuration below 20,000’ select flap1
Stall warning at liftoff?
- PF announce: “Stall, TOGA 15”
- TOGA
- 15 degrees pitch attitude
- wings level
Unreliable Airspeed
- PF announce: “unreliable airspeed”
- A/P OFF
- both FDs OFF
- A/THR OFF
Pitch thrust:
- below THR RED: TOGA 15
- above THR RED below 10,000’: CLB 10
- above 10,000’: CLB 5
Configuration:
- if config 0-3: maintain current config
- if config FULL: select config 3 and maintain
- speedbrakes check retracted
- L/G select UP
- When at or above MSA or cruise altitude: level off for troubleshooting
Unreliable speed indication/ADR Check QRH check list:
- PITCH/THRUST for initial level off
- Isolate the faulty ADR (Compare GPS GS on ND with IAS on PFD)
TCAS
TA:
PF announce: “ TCAS I have control”
OR
“TCAS BLUE”
RA:
- A/P OFF
- both F/Ds OFF
- follow the VSI and fly the green
- notify ATC “TCAS RA”
LOSS OF BRAKING
- PF announce: “loss of braking”
- select max reverse
- release brakes pedals
- A/SKID & NWS - Order PM to OFF
- press brake pedals maximum 1000PSI
- if still no braking, use short and successive parking brake
EMER DESCENT
Announce: "EMERGENCY DESCENT" CREW OXY MASKS...... USE SIGNS .........ON EMER DESCENT.......... INITIATE -IF A/THR not active: THR LEVERS IDLE SPD BRK ............ FULL \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
When descent established: SPEED ......... MAX/APPROPRIATE If structural damage: Manoeuvre with care CONSIDER L/G EXTENSION ENG MODE SEL..... IGN EMER DESCENT PA...... ANNOUNCE ATX XPNR 7700..... CONSIDER CREW OXY MASKS DILUTION..... NORM MAX FL: 100 / MEA-MORA
If CAB ALT above 14,000ft:
OXYGEN PAX MASK MAN ON…… PRESS

WINDSHEAR AHEAD
Available below 2300ft AGL, detects 5NM ahead with alerts displayed on ND below 1500ft AGL
“WINDSHEAR AHEAD, WINDSHEAR AHEAD”
Before take off: Delay takeoff or select more favourable runway \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ During takeoff run: REJECT takeoff. Note: PWS alerts inhibited above 100 kt until 50 ft. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ When airborne: THR LEVERS ....... TOGA slat/flap config can be changed, provided not hard warning. AP (if engaged) .......... KEEP ON SRS ORDERS ......... FOLLOW \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Landing: Go-Around......... PERFORM AP (if engaged)........ KEEP ON
GPWS/EGPWS CAUTIONS (AMBER) "TERRAIN TERRAIN" "TOO LOW TERRAIN" "TERRAIN AHEAD" "OBSTACLE AHEAD" "CAUTION TERRAIN" "CAUTION OBSTACLE"
During night or IMC "PULL UP TOGA" simultaneously: AP....... OFF PITCH....... PULL UP (full back stick and maintain) THRUST LEVERS..... TOGA SPEED BRAKES ....... CHECKED RETRACTED BANK ....... WINGS LEVEL OR ADJUST
During daylight and VMC with terrain and obstacles clearly in sight:
FLIGHT PATH….. ADJUST
GPWS/EGPWS WARNINGS (RED) "PULL UP" "TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP" "AVOID TERRAIN" "OBSTACLE AHEAD PULL UP"
"PULL UP TOGA" simultaneously: AP....... OFF PITCH....... PULL UP (full back stick and maintain) THRUST LEVERS..... TOGA SPEED BRAKES ....... CHECKED RETRACTED BANK ....... WINGS LEVEL OR ADJUST
If “TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP” or “OBSTACLE OBSTACLE PULL UP” or “TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP” aural alter, a turning manoeuvre can be initiated if safest action. PULL UP manoeuvre must be performed first before turn allowed.
(HTK/HTJ) IF “AVOID TERRAIN” alert follows “TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP” then flight must adjust bank. If alert generated whilst wings level, then obstacle ahead. If alert generated whilst turning, then obstacle in turning trajectory.
Pilot Incapacitiation
During Take-off roll:
- Below 100 knts = STOP
- Above 100 knts and below V1, assess conditions, consider stop vs go.
Airborne:
- Take Control and push side stick disc P/B for 40 secs
- Aviate, Navigate, Communicate, FMA. Above MSA?
- Mayday/Pan Pan
- PA “Attention, Senior Purser to cockpit please”
- Move seat fully aft/reclined and lock shoulder harness
- Request Medical Assistance (both onboard and IOC)
- Request any other pilot onboard
- Land as soon as practicable, arrange medical assistance
Request radar vectoring and plan for long straight in approach, prepare earlier, and read checklist with SP.
