• Autothrottle (if engaged)………..Disengage 

• Control column and thrust levers . . . . . . . . . . . . . Control airplane pitch attitude and airspeed 

• Main Electric Stabilizer trim . . . . . . . . . . . . Reduce control 
column forces 

• If the runaway stops after the autopilot is disengaged: 
Do not re-engage the autopilot or autothrottle. 

• If the runaway continues after the autopilot is disengaged: 
STAB TRIM cut-out
switches (both) ……………. CUTOUT 
If the runaway continues: Stabilizer trim wheel ………. Grasp and hold

A

• Autothrottle (if engaged)…………………………………..Disengage 

• Thrust lever
(affected engine) . . . . . Confirm . . . . .Close 

• If the ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated, go to the ENGINE FIRE or Engine Severe Damage or Separation checklist.

A

• Autothrottle (if engaged)………..Disengage 

• Thrust lever (affected engine) . . . . . . .. Confirm . . . . . Close 

• Engine start lever
(affected engine) . . . . . . .. Confirm . . . CUTOFF 

• Engine fire switch
(affected engine) . . . . . . .. Confirm . . . . .. Pull. 

If the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light is illuminated: 

• Engine fire switch . . . . . Rotate to the stop and hold for 1 second 

• If after 30 seconds the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated: 

• Engine fire switch . . . . . . .. Rotate to the other stop and hold for 1 second

Actions for Loss of Thrust on both Engines

A

• ​ENGINE START switches (both) ……………………………………………… FLT 

• ​Engine start levers (both) ……………………………………… CUTOFF 

• ​When EGT decreases: 
Engine start levers (both) . . . . IDLE detent 

• ​If EGT reaches 930°C or there is no increase in EGT within 30 seconds: 
Engine start lever
(affected engine) . . .. Confirm . . . . . CUTOFF, 
then IDLE detent 

If EGT again reaches 930°C or there is no increase in EGT within 30 seconds, repeat as needed.

- Roll Wings Level
- Pitch up 20’
- Retract the speed brake
- Don’t change the configuration

- Then report clear of TFC

A

Airspeed Unreliable
- AP Disengage
- AT Disengage
- At takeoff Pitch Up 15’ follow normal takeoff to gear up then:
- FD off
- Set pitch 10’ and 80% N1 (Flap DN)
or
- Set pitch 4’ and 75% N1 (Flap UP)
- Carryout the Airspeed Unreliable QRH
