Emergency Descent

  • Cabin ALT cannot be controlled
  • Rapid descent is needed
A
  1. Announce emergency descent (PF announce on PA system, PM advise ATC and obtain area altimeter
  2. pax signs - on
  3. without delay, descent to LSALT or 10,000ft whichever is higher
  4. engine start switches - CONT
  5. thrust levers - minimum (as needed for anti-ice)
  6. speed brake - flight detent
  7. set target speed to mmo/vmo

Cabin alt warning or rapid depressurization

  • a cabin altitude exceedance
  • in flight, the intermittent cabin altitude config warning horn sounds and cabin alt-light illuminates

  1. Don 02 masks and set to 100%
  2. establish crew communications
  3. pressurization mode selector - MAN
  4. Outflow valve switch - hold in close until outflow valve indications shows fully closed
  5. if cabin alt is uncontrollable
    - pax signs - ON
    - Pass oxygen switch - ON

Engine limit or surge or stall

  1. Autothrottle - OFF
  2. Thrust lever - confirm, retard until engine indications stay within limits or the thrust lever is closed

Loss of thrust on both engines

A
  1. Engine start switches (Both) - FLT
  2. engine start levers (Both) - Cutoff
  3. when EGT decreases: levers to idle
  4. if EGT reaches a red line or there is no increase in EGT within 30 seconds
    - engine start lever effected engine (confirm - cutoff then idle detent)
    - if egt again reaches a redline or there is no increase in EGT within 30 seconds, repeat as needed

  1. APU Fire switch - Confirm - pull rotate to the stop and hold for 1 second
  2. apu switch - off

  3. engine start lever (effected engine) - cutoff
  4. engine fire switch - confirm - pull
  5. if engine fire or ENG OVERHEAT
    - rotate to the stop and hold for 1 second

  3. control aircraft
  4. main electric stab trim - reduce control column forces
    6, if it stops do not reengage ap/at
  5. if it continues
    • stab trim cutout - cutout
    • hold trim wheel firmly
