Memory Drills Flashcards
Intercepting G/S from above?
-gear down and select flaps as required (at least CONF 2 to avoid speed increase).
-must ensure that you are cleared for the approach
-APPR mode”…arm/check armed
-LOC…check engaged
-FCU ALT…set above AC altitude (or missed approach if higher)
-V/S mode…1500-2000fpm , monitor Vfe
Once below missed approach ALT, set FCU altitude to Missed approach altitude
-must be captured by 1000’ agl, if not GO-Around!
Loss of braking
REV…max (until stopped if required)
BRAKE pedals…release
A/SKID…PF orders PM to select to OFF
BRAKE pedals …PF…press (max 1000psi)
If still no braking
PARK BRAKE…USE (short successive applications)
TCAS WARNING
EXTERIOR LIGHTS…on
Monitor and attempt visual contact with intruder
Do not perform a maneuver based on a TA alone
If RA encountered
«TCAS I HAVE CONTROL»
AP…off
Both FDs…off
Adjust or maintain pitch to reach green area
ATC…PM…notify “ACxxx is in a TCAS RA “
When clear of conflict
ATC…PM…notify “ACxxx is clear of conflict, returning to…”
Note :Resolution Advisories (RA) are inhibited below 900 ft.
Rejected T/O
Below 100kts:
Windshear
Any ECAM caution/warning
Tire failure*
Above 100kts
Fire warning, or severe damage
Sudden loss of engine thrust
Malfunctions or conditions that give unambiguous indications that the aircraft will not fly safely
Any red ECAM warning
Any amber ECAM caution of the ENG system or the F/CTL system
- In case of tire failure between V1 minus 20 kt and V1, unless debris from the tires has caused serious engine anomalies, it is far better to get airborne, reduce the fuel load, and land with a full runway length available
EGPWS warnings
Call “PULL UP TOGA” and simultaneously:
AP……………………………………………….. OFF
PITCH…………………… PULL FULL BACKSTICK Pull to full backstick and maintain in that position
THRUST LVRS………………………………. TOGA
SPEEDBRAKE LVR………. CHECK RETRACTED but maintain configuration
BANK…………………. WINGS LEVEL or ADJUST
When “Clear of warning”
PF cancel TOGA lock and reduce pitch
Call “go around, flaps”
Windshear Warning (reactive)
Windshear is detected, both PFDs display a WINDSHEAR message. An associated aural WINDSHEAR alert sounds three times.
■ Takeoff:
● If before V1:
If there are significant variations in airspeed, and in airspeed trend below the indicated V1, reject the takeoff.
● If after V1:
SIMULTANEOUSLY CALL “WINDSHEAR TOGA” AND SET OR CONFIRM TOGA
REACHING VR…………………………………………………………………………………………….. ROTATE
SRS ORDERS…………………………………………………………………………………………….. FOLLOW
If necessary, the flight crew may pull the sidestick fully back or aim for 17.5 nose up
■ Airborne - initial climb or landing:
SIMULTANEOUSLY CALL “WINDSHEAR TOGA” AND SET OR CONFIRM TOGA
AP (if engaged)”…………KEEP ON
SRS orders………FOLLOW
If necessary, the flight crew may pull the sidestick fully back.
DO NOT CHANGE CONFIGURATION (SLATS/FLAPS, GEAR) UNTIL OUT OF WINDSHEAR.
CLOSELY MONITOR THE FLIGHT PATH AND THE SPEED.
SMOOTHLY RECOVER TO NORMAL CLIMB OUT OF WINDSHEAR
Smoke /fire from lithium battery
Transfer controls if necessary
PA: “back up to the flight deck, back up to the flight deck”
Engine fail during high altitude cruise
Thrust lever…Select MCT
A/T…off
SPEED…select green dot and Pull
If a turn is required use HDG mode or consider the use of FMS OFFSET function
ALT…set FL220 and pull
ATC…notify
PM…Complete ECAM actions
Strategy:
Standard Strategy – MCT/M0.82 transition to 300kt – Set target altitude for LRC (MCDU PROG page or QRH.PER) – Set LRC cruise speed from QRH once level
Fixed Speed Strategy (ETOPS) – MCT/M0.82 transition to 330kt – Set target altitude to 17000! Adjust altitude to maintain 330 kts.
Obstacle Strategy – MCT / Green Dot Speed – Level off at EO Drift Down Altitude (PERF CRZ page or QRH.PER) – Once obstacle cleared adopt fixed or standard strategy
*** If V/S becomes <500 fpm, select V/S for standard and fixed speed strategy
When ready to resume descent:
– Re-Engage A/THR – Descend at M0.82/300kt/250kt as appropriate
Continue to assess single engine descent, cruise and landing criteria
Oceanic diversion
Initiate memory items, ECAM actions and time critical checklists
Declare EMERGENCY (Mayday or PANPaN)
Obtain clearance
If unable to obtain clearance:
-turn at least and offset :OCA:30 deg left-right/5nm
China: 30:deg right/ 5nm
Russia: 30 deg right,16.2nm
ENGINE OUT:
Minimize descent until off track
When established offset, descent below FL290 (-500’)
ALL ENGINE:
When established offset, climb or descents 500’
Stall recovery
PF calls “STALL I HAVE CONTROL»
Apply nose down, reduce pitch if required
Roll wings level
When out of stall, increase thrust smoothly as required
Ensure SPEEDBRAKES are retracted
When above Vls, recover desired flight path
If in clean configuration/ below FL200
PF “flaps 1”
When out of stall and ground contact not a factor:
Accelerate to F or S speed and call “ go around , flaps”
Stall warning at lift-off
PF calls “STALL TOGA 15”
Set TOGA
Pitch 15deg nose up
Roll wings level, accelerate
Unreliable Airspeed
A/P…off
A/T…off
F/D…off
Below thrust reduction altitude…15deg/TOGA
Above thrust reduction altitude/below 10000’… 10deg, CLB
Above thrust reduction altitude/above 10000’…5deg, CLB
FLAPS (if 0,1,2,3)…maintain configuration
FLAPs (if FULL) …select Flaps 3
SPEEDBRAKES…retract
L/G…up
When above MSA, level for trouble shouting
Crew member incapacitation
Criteria: does not respond to 2 communications, a single challenge or significant deviation from flight profile.
Assume control, Engage A/P (consider locking out sidestick)
Make PA “ Incharge Flight attendant report to the flight deck”
Tilt the seat back, move full aft, use shoulder harness and when practicable, remove incapacitated crew member from seat.
Consider replacing with other crew pilot (DH, commute,…)
When continuous use of O2 is used, land at nearest suitable airport .
