Memory Flashcards
Perirhinal cortex & entorhinal cortex
Parts of parahippocampal gyrus; Important structures for memory; transfer signals to hippocampus; Perirhinal+Entorhinal+Parahippocampal cortices=Parahippocampal Gyrus.
Hippocampus + Parahippocampal Gyrus
Most important structures for memory
Long-term memory
=declarative/explicit + procedural/implicit
Short-term memory
=Working memory
Wada test
Introduce barbiturate into one of the internal carotid arteries. The drug is injected into one hemisphere at a time, in order to shut down language and/or memory function in that hemisphere to evaluate the other hemisphere. Then, administer memory or language related tests.
California Verbal Learning Test (CVLT)
tests LTM and WM; 16 subtests.
Structure that is initial creator of LTM
Hippocampi
Delis–Kaplan Executive Function System (D–KEFS)
Assesses mild brain damage in frontal lobe; determines deficits in higher order thinking; 9 tests; 8~89y.
NEPSY
A Developmental NEuroPSYchological Assessment; 3~16y; 6 domains: Executive Functioning/Attention Language Memory and Learning Sensorimotor Functioning Visuospatial Processing Social Perception
