Memory Flashcards
Which area of the brain is principally involved in ‘Working memory’?
Prefrontal cortex
Which “sin” refers to the decreasing accessibility of memory over time.
Transience
Temporary inaccessibility of stored information, such as tip-of-the-tongue syndrome.
Blocking
Incorporation of misinformation into memory due to leading questions, deception and other causes.
Suggestibility
Attribution of memories to incorrect sources or believing that you have seen or heard something you haven’t. Deja Vu and cryptamnesia are examples of this.
Misattribution
Unwanted recollections that people can’t forget, such as the unrelenting, intrusive memories of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Persistence
Lapses of attention and forgetting to do things. The memory is formed to some extent but there is an issue in accessing the memory (for example remembering you left £10 in your pocket, but only once it is already in the washing machine).
Absent mindedness
Retrospective distortions produced by current knowledge and beliefs.
Bias
What scale assesses suggestibility?
