Emergency Descent
Condition:
Cabin alt cannot be controlled
A rapid descent is needed
Cabin alt:
10,000ft - cabin alt warning
14,000ft - pax oxy auto activates
- Announce the emer descent (ATTENTION ATTENTION EMERGENCY DESCENT)
PF: advise cc on PA
PM: advise ATC & obtain local alt setting. - Pax sign ………………..ON
- Initiate descent immediately to 10,000 or MORA
- Engine start switches (both)…CONT
- TL (both)………. IDLE
- Speedbrake……. FLIGHT DETENT
(if structural integrity is in doubt, limit speed as much as possible and avoid high maneuvering loads). - Speed ……………………. Mmo/Vmo
Engine Overheat
Condition:
An overheat is detected in the engine
MC (push to reset) + OVHT/DET
- Autothrottle (if engaged)…..Diseng
- TL (aff eng) ……confirm?…….close
- If ENG OVHT light stays on:
Go to ENGINE FIRE or Engine severe damage or separation checklist
APU Fire
Condition:
Fire detected in the APU
FW (bell cutout)
- APU fire sw…..confirm?….Pull, rotate to the stop and hold for 1sec
- APU sw……………………OFF
Airspeed Unreliable
Call out: Airspeed unreliable
- AP (if engaged) …………….Diseng
2.AT (if engaged) ……………..Diseng - FD sw (both) …………………OFF
- Pitch attitude and thrust:
Flaps ext…………10 deg and 80% N1
Flaps up ………… 4 deg and 75% N1
Runaway Stabilizer
Condition:
Uncommanded stabilizer trim movement occurs continuously/in a manner not appropriate for flight conditions.
- Control column………….Hold firmly
- AP(if engaged) ………….. Diseng
3.AT(if engaged) …………….Diseng - If runaway stops……..End of CL
If it cont………Stab trim cutout (both) - If runaway stops……End of CL
If it cont…Stab trim wheel ……. Man Grasp and hold
Aborted Engine Start (with or w/o auto ignition)
Conditions: Hot start Hung start Wet start No EGT increase (15s) Slow/no N2 acceleration
- Engine start lever………… CUTOFF
Engine Limit / Surge / Stall
Condition:
•EI rapidly approaching/exceeding limits
•EI are abnormal
•Abnormal engine noises with possible airframe vibration
•Flames in the engine inlet or exhaust
•No response to TL movement or response is abnormal
Objective: attempt to recover/shut down if not possible
- AT(if engaged) …………………Diseng
- TL (aff Eng) ….confirm…..retard until EI stay within limits or the TL is closed
Loss of Thrust on Both Engines
Condition:
Both Eng have loss of thrust
Both Eng FAIL alerts show
Objective:
To restart at least one Eng
- Eng Start switches (both) FLIGHT (Above FL270/275kts) (Below FL270/300kts)
- Eng Start levers both CUTOFF
- When EGT decrease IDLE DETENT
- If EGT >Red Line (950°C) OR no EGT after 30seconds CUTOFF/IDLE DETENT (REPEAT As Needed)
Engine Fire / Severe Damage / Separation
Condition:
•Engine FW
•Airframe vib with abnormal EI
•Eng separation
1.AT(if engaged) ………………..Diseng
2.TL(aff Eng) …confirm?……close
3.Eng start lever(aff Eng) …..confirm….CUTOFF
4.Eng Fire sw(aff Eng)…confirm…. Pull
To manually unlock the Eng Fire sw, press the override & pull.
5. If the Eng Fire sw or ENG OVHT light is ON:
Eng Fire sw……….Rotate to the stop & hold for 1sec
6. Wait ………….30secs
7. If still illuminated……Rotate opp hold 1sec
Cabin Alt Warning / Rapid Depressurization
Condition:
•Cabin alt exceedance
•In flight, the intermittent cabin alt/configuration warning horn sounds or a cabin alt light (if installed) illuminates. Use Alt Horn CUTOUT
Cabin alt:
10,000ft - cabin alt warning
14,000ft - pax oxy auto activates
- Don oxy masks………….. Set 100%
- Crew comm……………….. Establish
- Press mode selector………..MAN
- Outflow valve sw….. Hold in CLOSE until the outflow valve indication shows fully closed
- If cabin alt is uncontrollable:
Pax sign ………………..ON
Pax oxy switch ……….ON
Go to emergency descent CL
Elevator Tab Limit Cycle Oscillation
Airspeed ……….Reduce to 270kts/until vibration ceases (whichever is lower)
Do not use Speedbrakes …..Do not change a/c config to slow a/c
