Appoggiatura
An ornament which sounds like a leaning note. It takes half the value of the main note that follows. written as a small quaver beside the main note. cannot be identified without SCORE
Augmented triad
5th note in a major triad is raised by a semitone.
Polytonality
The use of two or more keys played at the same time e.g. medlody in C and accpmpaniment in E major.
Bitonality
The use of two keys played at the same time e.g. medlody in C and accpmpaniment in E major.
Tone row or note row
an arrangement of the twelve notes of the chromatic scale which form the basis of a composition.
Tritone
an interval of an augment 4th. made of 3 whole tones (suspense)
Turn
four notes which turn round the main note with the note above , the main note, the note below and the main note again
