what is meiosis
A
individual cells divide to produce 4 daughter cells, each with half the number of chromosomes present.

what are diploid cells
A
(2n) pairs of non sex cells (one from each parent) with the same gene arrangement in the same sequence

what is the difference between genes and alleles
A
genes - in charge of hair colour
alleles - variation of a gene (blonde, brown etc)

(n) one set of chromosomes from one parents (sex cells) eg sperm and egg
