meeting our needs Flashcards
explain how nutrition in humans works
food is taken in and broken down by teeth, cells in mouth release chemicals to help. food is passed down to esophagus and pushed down to stomach. cells in stomach release chemicals to help break down food and is passed down to intestines. nutrients are absorbed into blood vessels, indigested food is passes as waste through anus
how do we respond to our environment?
sweat, tan, get colds
how do plants respond to their environment?
cold weather = colourful trees then no leaves
warm weather = leaves bloom then bright green leaves
how does gas exchange work for vertebrates?
in humans air is inhaled then passed through the trachea and into the lungs. gas exchange then occurs at the end of bronchioles in round sacs called alveoli. o diffuses out into blood cells to rest of body
