What are the different types of complications of diabetes?

A

Hypoglycaemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar coma.
Microvascular : retinopathy, nephropathy
macro vascular complications; cardiovascular, cerebral vascular disease, peripheral vascular disease.
neuropathy; peripheral sensory, autonomic
Complications to treatment; hypoglycaemia, weight gain, and lactic acidosis
Diabetic foot disease, erectile dysfunction
Psychosocial complications.

What are the fasting plasma glucose levels, and the 2 hour plasma glucose levels (at 75g OGTT) to be diagnosed with diabetes?

A

Greater than or equal to 7 mmol/L whilst fasting, or greater than or equal to 11 mmol/L at 75g OGTT
