Methadone
- Taken ORALLY 1x/DAY
-Reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms
-Liquid form (Bright Pink)
*Often used for patients with severe opioid addiction
Advantage: Highly Effective
Disadvantage: Clustering people to go places to get dosed. It is a hassle if it is done every day.
Buprenorphine
-Taken ORALLY 1x/day or sustained-release forms like an implant or injection.
- Reduces craving and withdrawal symptoms
Advantage: Available by prescription
Disadvantage: Difficulty in finding a provider that can prescribe buprenorphine.
Suboxone 쏘벅쓴
Buprenorphine and Naloxone 널렠쓴
-Naloxone blocks the effects of opioid medication, including pain relief or feelings of well-being that can lead to opioid misuse.
Naltrexon 널튜렠쓴
Brand names: Vivitrol, Revia, Vivitro(injectable)
- Taken ORALLY or sustained-release injection MONTHLY
Advantage: MONTHLY»Convenient
Disadvantage: Patient must completely withdraw from opioid use seven days prior to treatment»_space; difficult commitment.
