Ibuprofen Dose And Contraindications

A

400 mg PO

  • Hypersensitive to ibuprofen or other NSAIDS
    -Asthma
    -Hx of significant renal disease, except renal colic
    -Suspected Intracranial bleeding
  • Diagnosis of Chrons/ ulcerative colitis/ IBD
    -Hx of GI bleed
    -Sub-arachnoid hemorrhage (thunder clap headache)
    -Pregnancy
    -Pt taking oral anticoagulants
    -Use caution when administering to a pt 65 years or older
    DO NOT give if pt has taken max dose within 6 hours

Ipatropium Bromide adult dose

A

1 puff every 30-60 sec to a max of 15 puffs
20 mcg per puff

Have pt hold breath for 5-10 seconds and have 5 breaths into the chamber before removing it

500 mcg nebulized - to a Max of 1500 mcg

Naloxone Dose

A

0.05 mg IV ( diluted 1mg & 9 ml saline ) 0.5 ml every 2 mins until respiratory effort begins

Or 0.8 IM every 5 mins to a Max of 3.2 ( 4 doses )

Or 2 mg intranasal every 3-5 mins to a max of 4 mg ( 2 doses )

Nitrous Oxide Contraindications

A
  • Inability to follow verbal instructions
  • Intoxicated with drugs or alcohol
  • Head injury with altered mental status
  • Thoracic injury suspicious for pneumothorax
  • Abdominal pain and distension suspected bowel obstruction ( because of its capacity to diffuse into air-containing spaces )

— Invert canister 3 times prior to administration
— administer early while obtaining IV assess for acp giving narcotics
