What are Ramipril/Lisinopril?
ACE inhibitor
Inhibit activity of angiotensin-converting enzyme
Heart problems- High BP, coronary artery disease
What are furosemide/Bendroflumethazide?
Diuretics
Eliminate excess fluid from the body by increasing urine output
Treat High BP by reducing pressure in blood vessels
What are Atorvastatin/Simvastatin?
Statins
Lower cholesterol levels
Reduce risk of heart attack and stroke
What are Omeprazole/Lansoprazole?
Proton Pump Inhibitors
Block gastric proton pump of parietal cells
Treat GORD
What are Bisoprolol, Atenolol, Propanolol?
Beta Blockers
Beta-adrenergic blocking medication
Treats heart failure, hypertension
What is Warfarin?
Anti-coagulant
Vitamin K antagonist- Reduced blood clotting by interfering with Vitamin K which transports Factor 2,7,9,10
Reduces heart attack and stroke risk
What are Apixaban/Rivaroxiban and Edoxaban?
Direct Oral Anticoagulants
Inhibit Factor Xa
Reduce heart attack and stroke risk
What are NSAIDs?
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
Inhibit COX1 and 2 enzyme
What is Paracetamol?
Anti-pyretic drug
Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by blocking COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes
What are Amlodipine/Verapamil?
Calcium channel blockers
Stop calcium from entering the cells of the heart and arteries
What are Clopidogrel/Dipyridamole?
Antiplatelets
Inhibits platelet aggregation and therefore thrombus formation
What are bisphosphonates?
Anti-resorptive medication
Reduces osteoclastic activity, thereby slowing bone turnover down
Treats osteoporosis
What are Sertraline/Fluoxetine/Citalopram?
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)
Increases serotonin levels- inhibits reuptake of serotonin, increasing its availability in the brain
Used to treat depression and anxiety
