Medicare - Declining Part B Flashcards

Q
What is the only time it may make sense to decline to enroll in Part B at 65?
A
If you are still working, and have group insurance through an employer with at least 20 employees. This type of group insurance is primary to Medicare Part B, and therefore is creditable. All other types of insurance - group coverage from an employer with less than 20 employees, and private insurance - are secondary to Part B, and therefore are not creditable, which will cause late enrollment penalties when you later apply for Part B.
