Exudate
A substance that seeps out of blood vessels and is discharge (moisture or a smell) slowly and steadily
Febrile
Symptoms of fever

Exacerbation
An increase in the severity of a disease or its signs and symptom
Hematochezia
Passage of stool that contains blood

Collection of blood that has escaped from a blood vessel into the surrounding tissues
Hematuria
Blood in urine
Hemorrhage

High blood pressure

Icteric
Pertaining to jaundice (excessive bile in blood; skin, whites if eyes, and mucous membranes are yellow)
Induration
A hardened mass or formation on tissue
Infarct
Death of tissue from blood flow obstruction
Infiltrate
Pertaining to the process of extending or growing into normal tissue
Ischemia
Condition in which there is a lack of oxygen due to decreased blood supply to a part of the body caused by constriction or obstruction of a blood vessel
Loculations
A region in an organ or tissue
Lymphadenopathy

Malaise
General feeling of discomfort
Meningitis
Inflammation of the meninges of the spinal cord or brain.
Meningismus
A state of meningeal irritation with symptoms suggesting meningitis
Myalgia
Pain in the muscle
Olecranon
The bony prominence of the elbow, on the upper end of the ulna.
Pallor
Paleness, lack of color
Palpable
Able to be touched or felt.
Parasthesia
An abnormal sensation, typically tingling or pricking (“pins and needles”), caused chiefly by pressure on or damage to peripheral nerves.
Petechia
Small, and point, purpleish hemorrhagic spots on the skin
Photophobia
Unusual intolerance to light
Pleurisy
Inflammation of the pleura caused by injury, infection, or a tumor.
Pneumonia
Inflammation of the lungs caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or chemical irritants
Pneumothorax
A pathological condition in which there is a collection of air between the chest wall and lungs, causing the lung to collapse
Post-ictal
Altered state of consciousness after an epileptic seizure.
Purulent
Consisting of, containing, or discharging pus.
Rale
Abnormal sound heard on auscultation of the chest; a crackling rattling or bubbling sound
Rhinorrhe
Discharge from the nose
Rhonchi
Coarse rattling respiratory sounds, usually caused by secretions in bronchial airways.
Sclera
Eyeballs outer layer or white of the eye
Sputum
Substance coughed up from the lungs
Stool Guaiac
Detects the presence of fecal occult blood (blood invisible in the faeces)
Stridor
High pitch sound caused by partial obstruction of the air passageway
Syncope
Temporary loss of consciousness caused by a lack of blood supply to the brain; fainting
Tachycardia
Rapid heartbeat that is over 100 bpm
Tackypnea
Rapid breathing
Tinnitus
The sensation of ringing or roaring sounds in one or both ears
Tonsillectomy
Surgical excision of the tonsils
Vertigo
Sensation of instability and loss of equilibrium; patient feel like they are spinning in space or objects around them are spinning
