Medical Model
A
- focus on organic pathology of patients (blood work, biopsy, account of symptoms and locating in the body)
- framework is important but has limitations

- expands focus beyond the body
- examines the interaction between the body and the external world (not limited to what is within the body)
- Bodies inhabit social worlds that affect
disease causation, prevention, and the
experience of illness.
-Complements the clinical, medical model which alone cannot address health disparities that are socially produced.
