Explain how to handle caustic substances and provide information on the composition and toxic effects of the chemicals in the lab.

Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment
START assesses patients using 3 parameters:
Respiration, Perfusion, Mentation
Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR)
Contains information about drugs and their adverse effects; includes correct dosage and administration.
Actions required if a patient brings medications for self-administration
1) Checking the label & dosage to ensure it is taken as directed
2) Opening the case and placing the medication in the patient’s hand.
3) Ensuring the safe disposal of sharps.
