If a patient is anxious about dental treatment it could cause blood pressure to raise putting even more strain on the heart

If a patient is anxious or stressed about their dental treatment it could cause unexpected problems to occur
Why would someone with a liver or kidney disorder pose a risk to dental treatment?
The malfunctioning of the liver or kidneys could mean the body will struggle to detoxify and remove drugs used during dental treatment
Why would someone with diabetes pose a risk to dental treatment?
Poor wound healing and prone to infection. Hypoglycaemia could occur if the diabetes is not controlled or medications aren’t being taken correctly
Why would someone with allergies pose a risk to dental treatment?
Someone with allergies are likely to be prone to more than one allergen so precautions should be taken to aid prevention of allergic responses such as no latex or penicillin
How could a patient taking antidepressants affect their dental treatment?
Certain antidepressants react with the adrenaline in the anaesthetic
If a patient takes thyroxine what precautions should be taken when delivering dental treatment?
Anaesthetic with no adrenaline should be used to avoid a reaction
If a patient takes a contraceptive pill, what precautions should be taken while delivering dental treatment?
An aesthetic with no adrenaline should be used to avoid a reaction

No adrenaline in the anaesthetic should be used to avoid a reaction
Why would previous complications during dental treatment affect future dental treatments?
The dentist should be aware in case the problems reoccur in the future
How would a patient who is on long term steroid treatment affect future dental treatment?
If The patient gets anxious or stressed over dental treatment they could be prone to shock and a potentially fatal drop in blood pressure
