What are the types of Brigade Support Medical Companies (BSMC)?
- Armored BCT (ABCT) – also includes Armored Cavalry Regiments (ACR) units
- Stryker BCT (SBCT) – includes brigades primarily task organized with Stryker combat vehicles
- Infantry BCT (IBCT) – includes Light (L), Airborne (ABN), or Air Assault (AA) units
**Assigned to a Brigade Support Battalion; supports a Brigade Combat Team (BCT)
What are the functions of Medical Company Area Support (MCAS)?
- Supports units without organic AHS assets
- Assigned to a Medical Brigade and attached to a Multifunctional Medical Battalion (MMB) in garrison
- May be task organized under a Medical Task Force and attached to a Division Sustainment Brigade or a Corps Logistics Task Force for deployment
Describe the breakdown of a treatment platoon.
- Treatment squad
- Treatment squad (area)
- Area support squad (includes dental section, laboratory section, radiology section, and physical therapy section)
- Patient hold squad
What are the responsibilities of a treatment platoon HQ?
- Provides mission command of the platoon and platoon attached assets
- Directs activities of the clearing station and monitors Class VIII supplies, blood usage and inventory roles
- Tracks patients and coordinates evacuation to higher roles of care
- Field Medical Assistant acts as platoon leader in garrison; generally retains position and responsibilities while deployed

Describe the functions of a medical treatment squad.
- To reconstitute and reinforce treatment squads of the Battalion Aid Stations (BAS)
- Provide emergency and routine sick call treatment to soldiers assigned to supported units
- Can operate for up to 48 hours while separated from their parent unit

- Composed of a platoon leader (70B Field Medical Assistant) and a platoon sergeant (68W40)
What do SCBT and MCAS not have and why?
Do not have BMSO, but does have MEDLOG positions assigned to HQ Supply Element
