Media Convergence Flashcards
What’s media convergence
Refers to how to mass digital information can be converted into one format, for example videos and
photos can be stored and accessed on an app or website for everyone to see
Media convergence
also refers to how people communicate to each other on social platforms where we can exchange
information, this led to the convergence of cultural ideas. Single global technology has developed
rapidly in the west, western societies have become dominant in digital communications and have been
successful in media convergence.
Boyle argues that the spread of digital communication has lead to media convergence. This is because
different forms of media can be accessed onto one device. For example, we can call, message and
interact with multiple people on our phones, which means new forms of digital communication can use
media convergence in their own way.
