Valve
Actual flaps located on each end of 2 ventricles of heart, act as one-way inlet/outlet for blood. 4 ventricles are: tricuspid, pulmonary,mitral,aortic
Endocardium
Thin smooth membrane that lines inside of chambers of the heart & forms surface of valves.
Pericardium
Membrane enclosing heart, consisting of an outer fibrous layer & inner double layer of serous membrane.
Arteries
Muscular-walled tubes by which oxygenated blood is conveyed from the heart to all parts of the body.
Veins
Blood vessels; tubes carrying mostly oxygen-depleted blood towards the heart.
Aorta
Main artery of body; supplying oxygenated blood to circulatory system.
Vena cava
Large vein carrying deoxygenated blood into the heart; humans have 2: inferior/superior.
Capillaries
Any of fine branching blood vessels that form a network between the arterioles & venues.
