Define weight
The gravitational force that the earth exerts on any object on or near it’s surface
Mass
The quantity of matter in an object
Define the term Normal Force
The force which a surface exerts on an object it is in contact with and it always acts perpendicular to the surface
Define the term friction
The force that opposes the motion of an object and acts parallel to the surface
Define the term static friction
The force that opposes the tendency of motion of a stationery object relative to the surface
Maximum static friction
The static friction just before an object starts to move
Kinetic friction
The frictional force that opposes the motion of a moving object relative to the surface
Newtons law of universal gravitation
Every particle in the universe exerts a force of attraction on every other particle. The force exerted by one particle on another is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them
