Mechanics Flashcards
1
Q
Define Newton’s 1st Law?
A
If an object is at rest or at constant velocity, it will continue to stay at constant velocity unless a resultant force acts on it.
2
Q
Define Newton’s 2nd Law
A
The resultant force is directly proportional to the change in momentum of the object.
3
Q
Define Newton’s 3rd Law.
A
Whenever two object interact they exert equal and opposite forces on each other.
4
Q
What is an elastic collision?
A
A collision where all the kinetic energy of the particles is conserved.
5
Q
Principle of moments.
A
For a system in equilibrium the sum of the anticlockwise moments will be equal to the sum of the clockwise moments.
6
Q
Scalar or Vector? ENERGY
A
Scalar
7
Q
Scalar or Vector? Velocity
A
Vector
