What is IPMS
International Property Measurement Standards - relating to residential and commercial property
(Demolition) - Give me an example of measurements
Demolition shears - Length, Jaw opening, Jaw depth
Excavator buckets - Width, distance between pins
Give me examples of other industrial machinery you have measured
Press brake - the most important dimension is the length of the bed.
Lathe -
Distance between centres (max length of job)
Swing over bed ( max diameter of job that can be held in chuck and rotated)
Swing over carriage ( max dia of job whose od can be turned by a tool mounted on carriage)
Additional information
Measurements relating to specification can often be found on the plate of the machine.
What must RICS members consider when evaluating the level of accuracy that could be expected from a measured survey and one that is both achievable and acceptable
What is the purpose of the measurement exercise?
What are the client’s requirements and expectations in terms of accuracy and confidence in measurement?
What are the time/cost elements involved in the measurement and reporting?
What would be the ramifications if the level of accuracy is deemed insufficient for the purpose?
