Q

How do you treat answers involving subtraction and addition and multiplication and division?

A
  • When adding or subtracting, the number of decimal places in the answer is given by the lowest number of decimal places in the measured values.
  • When multiplying or dividing, it is important to look at the significant figures and not the number of decimal places present. The lowest number of significant figures of the measured data will determine the number of significant figures in the final answer.
