Measurement Flashcards
Metre stick
Used to measure straight lines
Opisometer
Used to measure short curved lines.
Trundle wheel
Long curved lengths
Vernier callipers
Diameters of widths of solid objects
Temperature
How to measure the hotness or coldness of a thing, using a thermometer
Metre
It is a unit of length measurement, 1 metre = 100cm = 1000mm = 0.001 km
Second
A unit of time, there are 60 seconds in a minute
Celsius
A unit of temperature C = degrees Celsius
Cubic metre
A unit for measuring 3D shapes, or the volume, length x width x height, m3
Width
One side of an object is normally called the width, it is how wide it is, a road is wide enough for two cars
Volume
How much space an object takes up, in 3D form, length x width x height, cm3, m3
Mass
The amount of matter (stuff) in an object, found using an electronic balance.
Area
The amount of surface that covers an object is called the area, length x width, cm2, m2
Kilogram
Unit of mass, found using an electronic balance
Degree
How something is split up, angles in maths are split into degrees, degree Celsius is used for temperature
