It was brought in to tackle inconsistencies in global definitions of measurement and try and improve global transparency

It is led by the International Property Measurement Standards Council

RICS intend for it to become mandatory
At the moment members must inform their clients of the benefits of IPMS

Members must report on a dual basis having regard to clients instructions

How do IPMS define a Finished Surface?

Answer 4

The wall surface directly above the horizontal wall to floor junction. Does not include:
- Cable trunks
- Heating and Cooling systems
- Skirting boards
- Pipework

How do IPMS define the Internal Dominant Face?

Answer 5

The internal finish comprising of more than 50% of the floor to ceiling height of each IDF wall section. If such does not occur then the IDF is the Finished Surface.
