Why RAF and Role

What initial training will you undertake, and key elements
P1: 24 weeks @Cranwell (could be at Halton), split into 4 sections
Module 1 - Military skills (basics of being part of the RAF)
Module 2 - Development 1: know yourself to lead others
Module 3 - Development 2: line management and command
Module 4 - consolidation (summative assessment and graduation)
Further specialist training and key elements
P2: 21 weeks @ Cosford
Fundamentals of airframes, aerodynamics, electronics, avionics, propulsion, structures, and materials
Airworthiness standards and regulations
Management of armaments and hazardous materials
What’s included in term 1 of p1 training
Intended to effectively transition you from civilian to service life.
Physical Training
Preparation of uniforms
Drill
Weapons handling
Field craft
First aid training
Intro to Air power studies, written and verbal communications
Use of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear equipment
RAF ethos and core values
What’s included in term 2 of p1 training
Know yourself to lead others
Focuses heavily on leadership principles, behaviours, and capacities
Physical education continues on conditioning, nutrition, and health
Trip to Robson Resilience Academy Centre @ Crickhowell; using AT setting to develop leadership fundamentals
Culminates in a week long exercise where cadets live in a austere environment & practice leading small teams in a deployed military scenario
Learn about use of air and space power, initially by Portsmouth Business School

Explore Leadership - Practice and Develop
Focuses on Command & Control (C2) & in-depth elements of RAF leadership
mini C2 simulated exercise midway to apply theory
Air C2 in the Air/Space environment
Line management responsibilities
Care & Welfare in leadership - delivered by padres
Self directed exercise
What’s included in term 4 of p1 training
Consolidation and the transition and graduation phase
practical and written activities
Undertake AirC2 based exercise
Deployment to the Robson Resilience Centre at Grantown on Spey
A week long management simulated exercise
Week of academic assessment in Air and Space power & general service knowledge for officers
Then the 2 week transition and graduation phase
